Stephanie Kanning, DNP, FNP-BC

Stephanie Kanning is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (DNP, FNP-BC) with her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP). Stephanie started in the medical field in her hometown of Plentywood, MT as a CNA in the nursing home at the age of 15. She started college at Gonzaga University and ultimately graduated nursing school with her BSN in 2008 from MSU-Bozeman. She worked as an RN (Registered Nurse) including preceptor and charge nurse, at Billings Clinic on a medical-surgical unit for about 8 years, then as a Nurse Educator (certifying in Nursing Professional Development) for 2 years, and then onto the Emergency Department for 4 years while she continued her education through Frontier Nursing University, graduating with a Master of Science (MSN) Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) in 2021 and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2022. This well-rounded experience has helped shape her background to contribute to the variety and intimacy that is rural medicine, which she can now say is her favorite. Stephanie is a small-town girl at heart, passionate by nature, and rural medicine is where she would ultimately like to continue her focus as she and her husband, Zack, raise their two children Miriam (10), and Jack (8). Stephanie is excited to be part of this tight-knit community and is appreciative of the mentorship and team at RHCC.
